Ms. Cameron ready to take the stage for Dancing with the Stars

Annual event to be held May 6 and raise money for the Watertown Education Foundation

Introducing, Ms. Marianne Cameron as she enters the stage …

Ms. Cameron is the physical education teacher at the Cunniff School in Watertown. She will be competing in the annual Dancing with the Stars fund-raiser on Friday, May 6, at the Hellenic Cultural Center in Watertown. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the competition begins at 7:30 p.m.

Ms. Cameron has been practicing every day. Once a weeks he practices with her professional partner Vlad at the Ballroom in Boston studio in Brighton. She is learning two dances.

“My goal is to know what I’m doing,” she said.

Dancing with the Stars is a fund-raiser for the Watertown Education Foundation. Tickets are $45 per person and money raised goes to education programs in the Watertown schools.

Ms. Cameron will be competing against seven other dancers. The other competitors are David Leon, Chris Crombie, Ernie Thebado, Michael Venezia, Georgia Mulgrew, Mia Depaolis, and Kim Seacrist.

The Watertown Education Foundation asked Ms. Cameron to participate. Other Cunniff teachers to compete in the past include Ms. DiIeso and Ms. Antonellis.

Ms. Cameron has to come up with her costume and do her hair and makeup. She said she has never been in a dance competition before and she is very excited. Two of her three dances are going to be in the audience.

Ms. Cameron has been a teacher for 28 years. She went to school at Boston State College, which no longer exists. She played tennis, field hockey, and basketball. After the event, she is going to teach her students her dances.

“I enjoy working with children,” she said.
